Kalbarri is a lovely spot to have a break. The town is quite small but right on the ocean where the Murchison river ends. The beaches in the town are safe children to swim and there are lots of nice walks. We went out to the National Park to see “Natures Window”. There is also a wildflower centre there where we spent several hours looking around taking photos and having morning tea. The Rainbow Jungle Parrot breeding centre is also here, they lay claim to being the best parrot breeding centre in Australia and they certainly are impressive. It is set in a lovely semi tropical setting with lots of birds flying free, again we spent several hours there.

WATER TANKS REST AREA
We are parked at Water Tanks RA as we could only get a booking for Kalbarri towards the end of the week. There are millions of flies here but we have set up our fly net outside to hide under. This is the only spot with water for a long distance. I did the washing which is one bonus.
As well as the flies there are lots of wildflowers around, some of them are so tiny that you have to be walking around the bush (complete with head fly net) to see them. There is such a large variety and many can be viewed as you drive along. We are travelling WA at just the right time for them.
We move on tomorrow to Galena Bridge RA on the Murchison River, stay one night and then on to Kalbarri.
CARNARVON
We decided to stay at Carnarvon for a couple of days, the Coral Coast cara park had a special of pay for two get three nights complete with ensuite so we decided we would have a bit of luxury, even though we have our own ensuite it is nice to have lots of hot water and room, plus the batteries get a real good top up.
We had a drive around and walked out on the 1mile pier this morning, which is very rickety, then had Chinese for lunch. The weather has turned a little cooler and slightly cloudy.
We are hoping to be able to go to Kalbarri but forgot about the school holidays so will have to wait and see what pans out.
